Lucky Jack by S. Bavey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I enjoyed this book very much. Jack saw the best in almost everyone and loved to entertain, to make people laugh. His memories are fascinating, telling us about his family, his work, and fun days out, alongside his role in major events of the 20th century. His style is jaunty, matter of fact and immensely readable. Sue Bavey has done a great job of collating and curating the best of his newspaper columns and in Lucky Jack she has captured the voice of a real trouper.
